Aftercare Tips for the Best Results After Brow Lamination
Share
Brow lamination is an increasingly popular beauty treatment that helps to achieve fuller, more defined brows with a soft, natural look. Whether you’ve just had your brows laminated or are planning to book the treatment, proper aftercare is essential to ensure that your brows remain flawless and last longer. To get the best results and protect your investment, follow these aftercare tips.
1. Avoid Water for 24-48 Hours
After your brow lamination, it’s essential to keep your brows dry for at least 24 to 48 hours. This includes avoiding washing your face, swimming, or exposing your brows to moisture in any form. Water can interfere with the setting process and could cause the lamination treatment to break down, leading to less-than-perfect results.
2. No Makeup on Brows for the First 24 Hours
Refrain from applying makeup, especially brow pencils or gels, to your brows during the first 24 hours after the treatment. The skin around your brows can be sensitive, and applying makeup could interfere with the results or cause irritation.
3. Avoid Touching Your Brows
Resist the urge to touch or rub your brows, as this can alter their shape or introduce dirt and oils. Your brow hairs need time to set into their new position, so it’s best to leave them alone during the first 24-48 hours.
4. Keep Your Skin MoisturizedWhile it’s important to avoid moisture on the brow hairs initially, keeping the skin around your brows hydrated is just as essential. Use a gentle, non-oily moisturizer around the area to prevent dryness and irritation. Look for a product that’s lightweight and nourishing without being greasy for the best results.
5. Avoid Steam and Sauna
For the first 48 hours post-lamination, it’s important to avoid exposing your brows to intense heat. This includes steam from showers, saunas, or hot tubs. Excessive heat and steam can soften the setting of your brow hairs, causing them to lose their shape or even curl back.
6. Brush Your Brows Daily
To maintain the shape of your laminated brows, use a clean spoolie brush to gently comb them daily. Brushing will help maintain the uniform, lifted look and will keep your brow hairs in place. Some people prefer to use a brow gel or setting product to keep the hairs in position for longer.
7. Use an Oil-Based Serum or ConditionerTo ensure your brows stay healthy and nourished after lamination, consider applying a brow oil or conditioning serum. These products help to hydrate and strengthen the brow hairs, preventing them from becoming dry or brittle. Look for products that are specifically formulated for laminated brows and contain nourishing ingredients like castor oil, argan oil, or Vitamin E.
8. Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure
Exposure to UV rays can weaken the lamination treatment, leading to premature fading or frizzing of the brow hairs. Try to avoid long periods of sun exposure, or if necessary, wear a hat or use a sunscreen designed for your face to protect the brow area.
9. Don’t Overdo It with Tweezing or Waxing
While your brows are laminated, it’s best to avoid tweezing or waxing the hairs excessively. Your technician will have shaped your brows to perfection, or have left hair to grow in places that are needed. over-plucking can disrupt that perfect shape. If you need to tidy up stray hairs, pluck them sparingly and carefully to maintain the shape.
10. Follow Up for Touch-Ups
Laminated brows generally last between 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your hair growth and aftercare. However, to maintain that freshly laminated look, it’s important to schedule regular touch-ups with your brow technician. They’ll help keep your brows in shape and ensure they look their best throughout the duration of your lamination.
